Small Countries Goes to The Cook Islands
January 2018: 30 Cook Islanders from both the private and public sector have just completed a SCFMC customised programme focusing on negotiation. The one-week programme – provided at cost – was developed in partnership with Petero Okotai, the Chief Executive of the Cook Islands Investment Corporation, who attended the 2016 Isle of Man programme and took place at the University of the South Pacific in Rarotonga.
Regular SCFMC faculty Tim Cullen and Michael Gates and Executive Director Mark Shimmin were joined by Marta Coelho, a tutor on the Oxford Programme on Negotiation and a staff member of the London School of Economics (LSE) and Ning Wang, a tutor on the Oxford Programme on Negotiation. Ning also presented a session on negotiating with the Chinese. The SCFMC hopes to hold other such regional programmes in the future.
